Agreed with Ken's comments about the speakers. I'm always pleasantly surprised at how well the iTube controls my Epos M5 speakers with its 13 WPC output. I previously had these wired up to a Tag McLaren (Audiolab 60P) powerhouse, but the iTube really impresses, especially with the Chinese 6N1 input stage valves replaced with 2 x CVC premium ECC85. I am using my iTube in a 'power amp' configuration. That is the volume is set to full output and my preamp (Musical Fidelity X-PREv3) is connected to the Line 2 input.
With the upgraded valves in place, the soundstage is far wider, the treble more refined and laid back, and the bass extension and definition is improved no end. This is an upgrade seriously worth doing, even if googling around I see the 'spec sheet geeks' argue that the two valve types do not compare exactly on paper. I took the advice that they would work, and they work.
